The Do's & Don'ts of Online Dating #4

DON'T forget to truly listen

It's always a breath of fresh air when you go on a date with someone who not only listens to what you have to say, but who also finds a way to let you know on a future date that he or she has remembered what you've said.

I once had a dinner date with someone I'd initially met online and before long, we were talking about our favorite music, movies, and TV shows. I mentioned to him that one of his favorite shows, Game of Thrones, was a show that I'd actually never seen before, but that I'd always wanted to see.

Fast forward to our second date, and while we were getting drinks at a bar, my date explained that he had something for me. He pulled a USB out of his pocket and low and behold, I learned that he had burned all episodes of Game of Thrones onto it for me. Minus the fact that his gift was technically illegal, I was incredibly appreciative that he had not only remembered our initial conversation about our favorite TV shows, but he had taken the time to act on that conversation and provide me with a gift related to it.

There is a lot to be learned from online dating, but in the end, it's also important to remember that your experience with online dating should be a fun one.

Each date you go on is an opportunity to learn more about yourself (your likes and dislikes and attributes that you look for the most in another person) as well as an opportunity to explore new places in your city and go on new adventures along the way.
